Holy smokes. It’s a new year.
The years go so much faster the older you get. Each year is a smaller fraction of the whole of your life the more years go by.
Each year is a whole tenth of your life when you are ten. That is a big piece of the pie.
When you are forty-two, each year is a tiny sliver; thus, there is a feeling that each year is less consequential.
Every year, if you are like me, we say, “This is going to be the year.”
But what does that really mean?
Truth is, as small as the slivers of the pie get, each day of our life is meaningful. Each day is a gift. Each day does, in fact, have consequences and substance to the whole fabric of our lives.
So what if, this year, we each live like every day counts?
Live like every day has meaning.
And when we get to December 31st, 364 days from now, we can say wow- that was a full year.
💫Today’s verse is fitting as we try to work out all our plans for this year. I always want to recognize and acknowledge that God sees all, and His plans are bigger and more gracious than mine. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
